Testimonials by Selected Graduates

Diego Känzig - Assistant Professor at Northwestern University

Following his graduation in 2015, Diego completed an internship at the Swiss National Bank and then pursued a PhD in Economics at London Business School.

The MIME is an excellent master program for students who wish to specialize in the field of applied macroeconomics. The program equips students with the tools necessary to engage in cutting-edge research. Courses are taught by leading scholars and the faculty-student ratio is very high - enabling close interaction between students and professors. The great facilities at the institute and the collegial atmosphere among students provide an excellent environment to study and thrive. I truly benefited a lot from this program and can only recommend it.

Isabel Gödl-Hanisch - Assistant Professor at LMU Munich

Following her graduation in 2015, Isabel completed an Advanced Studies Program at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and then pursued a PhD in Economics at University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA.

The MIME combines the strengths of both faculties - Basel & Bern - in Monetary Economics and Macroeconomics. It does not only teach all the tools, methods and models necessary for economists but also focuses on real time problems in the world economy. Highly recommended.

Oliver Pfäuti - Assistant Professor at University of Texas

Following his graduation in 2018, Oliver completed a PhD in Economics at the Graduate School of Economics and Social Sciences, Mannheim.

For students with an interest in macroeconomics and monetary policy, the MIME is a top choice. The mix of theory and empirics enables the graduates to conduct independent research and provides them with a broad set of quantitative tools. Often, the classes are small which encourages the interaction between professors and students.

Florence Hartmann - Developed Markets Economist at Swiss Life Asset Managers

Following her graduation in 2016, Florence joined the Career Start Program in the Global Macroeconomic Research team of Credit Suisse.

If your main interests lie with macroeconomics, the MIME is definitely the right choice. The program gives you a solid toolkit in both macroeconomic theory and quantitative methods. The small size of the classes allows for close interaction with professors and assistants.
